Retaining Staff in a Competitive Environment
This highly sensitive and secure Government authority was struggling to retain quality staff as a competing government agency was able to offer higher salaries and better promotion prospects. Additionally, negativity in group communication was causing unease and unwanted friction.
Management was keen to identify the current workplace culture with specific reference to recruitment and retention motivations. There was a perceived idea that the leaders needed to not only be aware of the discontent, but also do something about creating a more high performance workplace based on a coaching culture.
Perception Mapping designed a customised workplace culture map to clarify and measure what employees actually thought.
The Map succeeded in providing staff with an anonymous opportunity to provide comment on these and other workplace issues. The initial perceptions were proved correct and interventions put in place to encourage Managers to receive training in workplace coaching.
